Tour Details

Neamt County is an area with many touristic sites: Old monasteries, fascinating museums, fortresses, and strongholds.

A good part of the well-known monasteries from Northern Moldavia are in Neamt County. Firstly, most importantly, Agapia is especially known for icons by the famous Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu. Secondly, Neamt monastery with two churches, two chapels, the bell-tower with 11 bells, and the Theological Seminary and a museum with religious art and some old printing presses. Inside the church, we can see the icon of the Virgin Mary, painted in 665 in Israel. Thirdly, Varatec monastery with 600 nuns who live there. In addition, Neamt Citadel is another fortress built by Stefan the Great to defend Moldova by Ottoman Empire.

First of all, other attractions are Ceahlau Mountain – also known as The Athos of Romanian Orthodoxy and the Dacic mountain Kogaion. Furthermore the beautiful and spectacular Bicaz Gorges, Vanatori Natural Reservation with living buffalo and other animals.
